Our Lady of Walsingham

September 24th: In 1061, the Blessed Virgin appeared to an English Catholic woman named Richeldis de Faverches. Lady Richeldis’ soul went into ecstasy during the apparition and she went from England to Nazareth to see the house where Holy Family lived. During this apparition, she was given the task of creating a replica house in her village in England; this became later known as the “Holy House.” Our Lady asked that the house be built as a Shrine so that it may be a place of pilgrimage. In 2000, the Feast of Our Lady of Walsingham was declared the patroness of England by Pope St John Paul II.
